My role is to audit how clients use their IT systems. My day-to-day tasks involve lots of meetings, emails, and completing workpapers. The report-writing stage of an audit is interesting, as it is where we start to discuss potential findings with the client and work with them to plan and implement changes in the organisation. We also get to work on Reports to Parliament, where we summarise our findings to the Parliament to assess how we are going as a state.
Day to day it can vary depending on the client. Working in audit we follow a yearly cycle with planning, interim and final visits where various different work tasks are performed. As a grad, depending on the size of the job, we are sometimes given either one area to focus on or a few smaller areas with low risks associated
There is always a variety of things to work on. It is really dependent on what jobs you are working. On some, you might have the same things to work on for weeks, whilst on others, you may go through a number of things concurrently.
