The tasks I complete on a day to day basis based on my job role consist of the following: preparing tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships and companies, completing FBT for clients, bank reconciliations, recording financial transactions for clients using a wide range of Software such as Xero, MYOB, XPA and QuickBooks, preparing BAS & IAS for clients, responding to client queries via email, phone or through client meetings (under supervision), assisting with quarterly and monthly payroll for clients, preparing the following financial statements - P&L Statements, Balance Sheets and Cash flow Statements. All these jobs are also completed for a diverse range of clients such as small businesses, startups, medium sized enterprises and etc, while gaining insight into different industries, sectors and business models.
Tax returns
As a graduate in the Business Advisory division, my role involves supporting clients across a variety of projects, from financial analysis and business planning to process improvement and strategy development. On a day-to-day basis, I might be preparing reports, conducting research, analysing financial statements, or helping senior advisors with client presentations. There’s a strong emphasis on learning through doing, so I often get exposure to different industries and client challenges. I also participate in internal meetings, training sessions, and team discussions, which helps me develop both technical skills and professional judgement. The work is varied, engaging, and gives a real sense of contributing to client outcomes while building my own capabilities.
As a Grad, my role involves completing client accounting and tax work, including preparing fin statements, tax returns and BAS. I manage and plan my own workflow to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and within the deadlines. Dy to day, I assist with statutory compliance, management accounting and tax planning. I support senior staff in developing solutions to improve client processes, reduce costs and enhance income growth. Client liaison is also a key part of my role, requiring professionalism and an understanding of the client’s business and commercial environment. I also focus on development, attending training and developing my technical skills, including systems knowledge and how to utilise AI.
