Monthly taxation updates
The formal training is mostly tax related and is quite constant, about 2 sessions per month. The informal training is essentially learning on the job, it has it's benefits but I would have preferred a more structured approach, especially in the first 3 months.
I have never been a big fan of the school system of learning. So while the initial training sessions we had were good, I have found I've learned a lot more by simply doing the work and asking questions as I go along. It's hard to describe the skills I've picked up as every day we do something different, however I've found my general accounting knowledge has vastly improved since arriving at Mazars, as well as a lot of technical audit knowledge, mostly consisting of different tests we need to perform. I've also learned how to use a variety of different software systems, including Xero, Tencia, Caseware, and partially ATLAS.
