I find my managers to be very accessible, they operate on a 'no surprises' basis which means performance feedback milestones are more relaxed and I can focus on what I need to do to excel.
Most managers are accessible, approachable and communicative. there are a fair number of managers however that are not. some managers go above and beyond in the performance feedback and provide constructive points for review. most however note 'working satisfactory'/'meeting expectations' with little to no additional information that does not assist in growth or development.
I have been lucky to have had great managers. they have all been accessible when i needed them, and they have all been invested in my wellbeing and continued professional development, including by encouraging me to apply for promotions and giving my additional responsibilities to grow key skills.
